How to Grow in Your Faith
Religion Versus Relationship
Jesus Christ did not come to this earth to establish another religion. He came to re-establish God’s relationship with you. Jesus came preaching “The Kingdom of Heaven”; not “the church”. The Kingdom of God is inside of your heart where God longs to dwell if you accept Him.
To grow in your faith, it’s more important that you spend time with Jesus in prayer, fasting, reading the Bible than going to church or doing random acts of kindness all the time.
Your relationship with God is by faith. So you must commit to walk by faith not by sight.
Hebrews 11:6: “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Without faith, we cannot please God! For us to receive anything in the Kingdom, from salvation onward, we need faith. If you believe in Jesus, the Messiah, you have faith. The question is how are you using it?
- Read and listen to God’s Word to remember and keep it.
- Pray daily (most important)
- Worship daily
- Fellowship
- Obey God always
Your Identity In Christ
If you have put your faith in Jesus Christ, repented of your sin and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, then you have been made a new creation in Christ.
“…anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” 2 Cor 5:17
Once you believe, confess, die to self, and continue obeying God, you become a new person. You are born again once by faith but are continually made new by the renewing of your mind through scriptture. Regardless of skin color, age, gender, background, you are a NEW CREATION. “In Christ, we are fundamentally new, and belong to the people of heaven. The language and values and customs and expectations of this world increasingly feel foreign to us. We have been born again for another world, to a greater kind of existence.” - Identity in Christ, Desiring God “In Christ’s family there can be no division into Jew and non-Jew, slave and free, male and female. Among us you are all equal. That is, we are all in a common relationship with Jesus Christ. Also, since you are Christ’s family, then you are Abraham’s famous “descendant,” heirs according to the covenant promises.” Galatians 3:28-29, MSG. If you received Christ, then continue walking in Him. Live out the Sermon on the Mount (bless others and don’t judge, harm, hurt or curse). This is proof of true, dynamic faith. By believing in God and continuing to walk in loving obedience to God, we come to know Jesus through the Holy Spirit. This knowledge is beyond facts, information, but a personal, deep experience. Only the Holy Spirit can breathe life into the letter of the law.
